FOLLOW UP ON THE POLICE REPORT AGAINST THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF MEIO AND THE ALLEGATION AGAINST THE DIRECTOR OF MILITARY INTELLIGENCE
Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) had on 24 July 2018 made a police report against the Director General Research Division, Prime Minister Department Dato Seri Hasanah Abd Hamid over a letter that she wrote to the United States CIA Director. The letter purportedly discussed internal security matters and foreign policy matters that should not have been shared, and asked US to support our previous government in case the election result turned out to be close.
It is now ten days since we made the police report. We are keen to know the status of our report, whether investigation has been made, and shouldn’t an arrest be necessary. On the other hand a statement from the IGP stated that the investigation on the police report made by Dato Seri Hasanah herself is completed and has been submitted to the Attorney General’s office.
We were told that Dato Seri Hasanah has resigned from her post and her whereabouts is unknown. The question that needs to be answered by the investigating authority now is why hasn’t Dato Seri Hasanah been arrested over the letter that we deem treacherous and treasonous. Does the investigating authority feel that the content of her letter isn’t serious enough to warrant her arrest?
We had also stated in an earlier statement to the media that the Director of Military Intelligence was alleged to be involved in supporting the then PM Najib Tun Razak during the election period. We demanded his resignation should the allegation be true but as of today, we were told that he is still holding on to his post. He has not denied all the allegations made against him. Neither was there an investigation to establish the truth or otherwise conducted against him.
With regards to the police report made against Dato Seri Hasanah by Patriot, we urge the investigating authority to clearly state the status of the investigation; if at all an investigation was carried out.
With regards to the Director of Military Intelligence, we urge the Chief of Defence Forces to conduct an investigation on the roles played by the Director of Military Intelligence in support of the then PM Najib during GE14, to determine the truth or otherwise the allegations against the former.
