We observed that as the heat of political campaigning towards the GE14 increases, the temperature of the speeches also rises. Politicians from both sides have sorted to calling names, uncouth brandishing, using harsh and vulgar language, against each other. The so-called elegant silence has become ugly shouting and undignified, even portraying oneself as being childish. Rhetorical language score is high, but substance is zero. Talking like a childish and uneducated person is not only reflecting lowly on oneself, it is also insulting to the Malaysian populace. We understand that such unkind and undignified speeches and conduct are political. As long as it does not cross the bounds to incite hatred among the races, and not use racial and religious sentiments to cause distrust and disunity, the people can tolerate.
We despise individual politician, political party, blogger, cyber trooper or anyone or group who cause disharmony through their speeches, writings and conduct. Race and religion are issues often exploited by unscrupulous and irresponsible persons. It is in this spirit we members of the Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan agree fully with members of the G25 in their press statement on 6 Nov 17, when they said, " We should learn from countries which have turned into failed states because their governments used race and religious politics which do not take in account the religious sensitivities of all its citizens". We cannot, and must not allow our country to be a failed state.
There are many issues afflicting our people and country, and many of which we have expressed in our previous statement. Politicians, bloggers, and cyber troopers, by all mean do campaign on issues. We invite them to commit to uniting all Malaysians. Do not incite hatred and cause racial disharmony. And for that request we are not saying "please". We will be watching.
