PATRIOT REGISTERS RAKYAT’s RESERVATIONS OVER NEWLY MINTED MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT

YAB Dato Seri Ismail Sabri has been named the country’s 9th Prime Minister by His Majesty in consultation with the Rulers of Malaysia on Friday 20th August 2021 following a tumultuous period of uncertainty and public frustration over the previous Perikatan Nasional (PN) government headed by Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin.
The incoming 9th prime minister’s announcement of his chosen Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers a week later is seen by the rakyat as  a mirror image of the previous, failed, backdoor government.
However the rakyat are concluding widely that time will tell as they do not reckon any difference between Ismail Sabri’s new line-up with that of Mahiaddin’s 70 member team.
The rakyat have taken due and critical note of the 9th PM’s first line of duty. His rushed trip to the flood inundated district of Yan in Kedah in a government executive jet accompanied by an unwieldy entourage of political wannabees; being escorted to the flood devastated sites with an unaccountable beeline number of cars; and the mega billboard specially commissioned and erected at the crisis site to ‘Welcome and congratulate’ the new prime minister – all of these undoubtedly did not auger well for the ‘best choice’ 9th PM of Malaysia.
For the rakyat such shows of lavishness and lack of sensitivities is not being taken kindly nor appreciated at a time when they are suffering from loss of jobs and mounting difficulties to even feed and shelter their families.
Meanwhile on the global front the international press has labeled the Malaysian Government ‘a recycled government’ amongst other headers. It certainly does not earn the country a good impression for its newly installed Malaysian government. We can choose to ignore or even condemn these foreign reports but the world’s business investors will not.
Patriot takes concerned note of the notable lack of excitement among Malaysians all across the nation and the jubilations shared only among those being re-appointed as ministers and deputies and their lackeys.
Patriot concurs with the prevailing public opinion that it is ‘the same, old bus loaded with the same passengers, but driven by a new driver’. The fact that the Cabinet numbers remain as bloated as its preceding band wagon and has the same faces retained seals the unsavory perceptions shared widely in social media.
The rakyat are asking how will the third prime minister in three years lead the country out of its health pandemic that is clearly worsening by the days and weeks, and will he ever succeed in rescuing the plunging, ailing economy.
Patriot believes that the pressing, failing issues that sieged the previous PN-led government has now fallen onto the shoulders of the same politicians and appointees in Ismail Sabri ‘new’ administration.
“Upon listening to the rakyat we are of the opinion too that drastic changes and strategic sacrifices have to be made if Ismail Sabri aims to steer the nation’s wellbeing away from an imminent shipwreck”, said Brigadier General Dato' Mohd’Arshad Raji.
“However we see little hope for changes to be effected and to root if those appointed to ministerial positions continue to remain aloof or indifferent to public criticisms.
“Public servants labelling public criticisms as ‘dissenting voices’ or as ‘frustrated, irrational individuals and organizations’ are to simply deflect and distort truth. And rebutting patriotic citizens’ concerns in public by deeming them as ‘anti-government’ as is the common line of defense further erodes any residues of trust left” added the president of Patriot.
In no uncertain terms Patriot reminds the 9th prime minister’s newly minted government that there are numerous urgent and unresolved issues plaguing the nation. His 100 days grace period for his team to perform is a luxury that critically handicapped Malaysia cannot afford.
The rakyat are stressed out to extreme levels by the unresolved health, social and economic issue.
And if the government takes a seemingly lackadaisical attitude and fails to confront these issues head on, the country will be saddled with more disastrous eventualities. And any failure to heal and save the country from its sinking, plunging situation falls squarely upon Ismail Sabri as the steward of the nation.
“You cannot have the crown and get away with failures”, warns the Brigadier General.
Patriot urges the government to adopt with speed a truly people centric government if at all the PM’s call for a ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ concept is to succeed.
This incoming UMNO-BERSATU-PAS comradeship must dump and discard the overused currency of racial, religious and royalty overtures to placate the public and to entrench popular support among the Malays and Muslims in particular.
