HEED TUANKU MUHRIZ'S CALL TO ABIDE BY RUKUN NEGARA AND RULE OF LAW
Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) fully supports the call by HRH Yang DiPertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, that those in power must abide by the Rukun Negara, especially its principles of the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law. Tuanku Muhriz also called for the protection of the independence of institutions under the law, the judiciary, enforcement agencies, and the various commissions. He further said that it is important for these institutions created under the Federal Constitution are free from any intervention, and that good governance should be practiced to ensure peace and harmony.
Tuanku’s titah is timely as the general election draws near. The rakyat of Malaysia want to see a free and fair election. This is an extraordinary time that institutions such as the Election Commission, MACC, Royal Malaysian Police, and even the Armed Forces, should serve the nation with pride and honour, abiding by the Constitution and the rule of law, to be impartial and be seen to be impartial. Institutions and agencies in the government, and local government, should continue to serve with integrity and not allowed to be exploited by any political party. Government resources, which include manpower, materials, monetary, etc, should not be used for any single party’s advantage. Patriot calls on all civil servants, the police and the military, to exhibit the code of honour expressed through an oath at their employment, to serve without fear and favour.
Patriot also calls on all political parties to commit to a clean campaign, not to use inflammatory language which could instill hatred among the races, not to outsource hate speeches and hooliganism to groups and gangsters.
Our country cannot tolerate any more bigotry, hooliganism, hate speeches from any individual, group or party, that will tear wider the social fabric and national harmony. With the economic uncertainty ahead, an impending global hyperinflation due to years of debt spending in almost all countries, a shrinking economic pie, and galloping unemployment; the Malaysian people has only one choice, ie, to stay united. We need a strong and capable leadership to mobilise and motivate all Malaysian people to continue to work hard and rebuild our beloved nation. We have no other choice.
