CLOWNS AND CIRCUS
Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) does not wish to add anymore to the chorus of criticism regarding the recent re-delineation of electoral boundaries, which saw a distinctive division by ethnic groups. The outcry of gerrymandering, infringement of the principle of apportionment, has fallen on deaf ears. Such re-delineation leading to politicking and campaigning based on racial line in the next eight years is inevitable. If an additional comment is permissible, we would like to say, its bloody stupid! Pardon for using a military slang.
Our nation is not short of clowns who are benumbed to criticisms from civil society. The players and actors of 1MDB, Felda scandal, purchase of properties in Australia at inflated prices using MARA funds, fast ascending national debts and fiscal deficits, anti-fake news bill; all enough to fill a circus of clowns. Bad governance and abuse of power have become glaringly clear.
The latest addition to the circus is the dissolution of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), an order issued by the Registrar of Society (ROS) just a day before the announcement of the dissolution of parliament. Such a major decision ordered merely hours away when the government is to be led only by a caretaker. What a blatant disregard for the feeling of a significant percentage of the population. Where is the principle of fairness? Where is the principle of decency? Where is the principle of impartiality? If seemingly educated and responsible top civil servants cannot manifest such principles in governance, in their decisions and conduct, then sadly, it is a fast march to ruins and doom for our nation. Clearly, ROS has crossed the line of impartiality in dissolving PPBM.
It is correct to say that the civil servants, the military and the police, support the government of the day. Loyalty is pledged to the King and country. Absolutely not to any political leader, be it from the ruling or the opposition.
Patriot would like to remind BN politicians at the federal and states, PH politicians in Selangor and Penang, and PAS politicians in Kelantan, all civil servants especially those at the top echelon, the top brasses in the military and the police; that our nation is now governed by caretaker government. Funds are not to be committed unless they are for routine or emergency use. Government assets, properties, human resources are not to be abused for political ends. The use of military assets, including aircrafts, helicopters, naval crafts, by any politicians in the caretaker government, is strictly forbidden. Any abuse of such is blatant disregard for the law. It is illegal.
Patriot would like to repeat our oft-mentioned appeal. For politicians and parties from both sides of the divide, by all means please campaign on issues, be they of national or local importance. Please do not employ politics of hate; race and religion, to further tear the fragile fabric of racial harmony. Patriot is very passionate about such issues. We strive to help realize our Vision – Malaysia: a harmonious, prosperous and progressive nation.
